Opportunity for Dubliners to air concerns about the NCT says O’Malley

Progressive Democrats TD Fiona O’Malley is urging anyone who has a complaint to make about the National Car Test (NCT) to air their views at a public meeting on the issue in the Red Cow Hotel on the Naas Road

The meeting in the Red Cow will take place on Thursday 12th May and is part of a countrywide series of public consultation meetings reviewing the NCT. The meeting will begin at 6.30, and end at 8.00pm, and anyone wishing to attend can reserve a place by contacting 1800 24 25 31.

‘There is very real public disquiet about the NCT, and this meeting is designed to allow members of the public to voice their concerns and make recommendations on how to improve the system,’ says Deputy O’Malley.

‘Many people appear dissatisfied with the current system. People are concerned about the location of test centres, the actual content of the test itself, the cost involved and the quality of the service provided to car owners.’

‘I am therefore urging as many people as possible to attend the meeting in the Red Cow, and let their views be heard.’

According to Deputy O’Malley ‘It has now been five years since the introduction of the NCT, and it high time that we had this review. There is five years remaining in the present contract and the results of the review will be used to improve and overhaul the system.’

‘Anyone who is unable to make the meeting but is interested in having their concerns or suggestions heard, can make submissions online at www.nctreview.ie or in writing to NCT Review, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Wilton Place, Dublin 2.
