Letter To Local Residents
25th April 2005
Dear Resident
Proposals to Develop Dun Laoghaire Baths unveiled
You may be aware that a preliminary proposal to develop the Dun Laoghaire Baths site was presented to the Councillors by council officials recently.
As there is very little information in the public domain, my colleague Councillor Mary Mitchell O’Connor has asked the Manager to organise a series of meetings so that people can be informed. These should be starting in early May. I will list the meetings on my website voteno1.com when they are available.
I would like to outline the process this development will follow. Because it involves development of the foreshore it will be subject to Part XV of the Planning and Development Act 2000. The process, briefly, is the following:
7th June Councillors vote on whether to proceed. If agreed the council prepares an Environmental Impact Study (E.I.S.) and lodges an application with An Bord Pleanala. This is when the fully worked out designs will be known. The application will go on public display and people are invited to make Submissions on the plans.
Given the nature and scale of the development it is likely that an oral hearing will be granted. I shall be requesting one in any event.
Both Mary and I would be glad to get your views on the development. My contact details are included below and Mary can be contacted at mmoconnor@cllr.dlrcoco.ie.
With best wishes
